Permanent Makeup

Have you ever wished you naturally looked more like the way you look in makeup?  Today more and more women are opting for eyeliner that never smudges and lip color that doesn't wear off or bleed.  With permanent cosmetic makeup,  you can swim, exercise and wake up in the morning with your makeup perfect.

Permanent makeup is a cosmetic technique which permanently pigments the dermis.  Permanent make up is meant to enhance your natural features and not necessarily look like topical make-up. The result can be as soft or dramatic as you like.

Our Permanent Makeup Artist, Diane, is a professional perfectionist in her craft.  In the field for twenty years, Diane will take a great deal of time consulting with you - she is much respected and has earned an outstanding reputation in Permanent Costmetics.

Eyeliner

Permanent Eyeliner enhances and defines the beauty of the eyes. It is the most sought after of all the permanent makeup techniques.  It makes lashes appear thicker when not wearing mascara.  Upper and lower lids are customized.  Women who have invested in permanent eyeliner appreciate the smearpoof, hassle-free, moistureproof coloring it provides.

Lips

Permanent Lip color is perfect for asymmetrical shaped lips, thick lips, thin lips, or lips with uneven vermillion borders. It will also eliminate the problem of lipstick "bleeding" into the fine lines around the mouth.  Permanent lip liner eliminates the daily use of pencils to outline, fill-in, or reshape lip borders. It also decreases the need to reapply lipstick or lip gloss.

Reconstructive Work

The same permanent makeup techniques can be used for reconstructive reasons.

Color is added to the skin to soften and blend the color of a scar to match the surrounding tissue. This technique is also useful to correct loss of skin pigmentation, to minimize facelift scars, and to recreate nipple and areola areas after breast reconstruction surgery. In these instances, the pigments are custom blended to harmonize with the surrounding skin.

Please call the Spa for a consultation regarding your reconstructive needs.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Does it hurt?

A topical anesthesia is used as needed to help numb the areas to be treated. This helps to alleviate any minor discomfort you may experience during the procedure.

How will I look immediately after the procedure?

You may experience minor swelling and redness on the day of your appointment.  This is normal.  You may resume normal activities immediately except you will be advised to wear no makeup on the treated area for about one week.  There is some minor redness, healing and peeling during the first week.

When will I see the final result?

At first the pigment will appear too dark. There is a natural exfoliation process that takes place after healing for 5-7 days and the dark residual pigment is then lost, leaving a softer natural color behind. The final result is not absolute until 4 weeks. Skin tone, exfoliation, settling of the color into the dermis all contribute to the final outcome at about four weeks.  Usually the eyeliner is basically healed and true to tone and depth of color after 7-10 days.  The lips go through a different type of process and often appear too light after the initial "peeling" in the first 3-5 days.  The color intensity becomes more visible after 3-4 weeks.  A review of the procedures will take place 6 weeks after to check for perfection.  Sometimes minor touch ups are needed at that time which are provided at no additional cost.

Is it really permanent?  How long does it last?

Some people do like to have their color darkened a couple of years after the procedure as they have got used to the color, or it may have faded a little more than they anticipated.  Our permanent makeup artist has over 20 years experience and achieves wonderful results that really do last for years and years.

What factors affect how long the color lasts?

The skill of the technician, the quality of the pigments used, the individual's skin type, how dark the original color is, sun exposure, and use of exfoliating skin-care products can all contribute to some color fading.
